This was filmed a bit earlier this morning and we’re already knocking on 100!

We’re honestly in the midst of the best Southern Bluefin season we have been blessed with before and this run gets better and better every year. This is a testament to conservation efforts between Australia, New Zealand and other foreign fishing fleets. Amazing to think these fish were on the edge of extinction not that long ago.

I say it to all my clients, you don’t need to take a fish each to have more then enough to go around. The recreational boys need to start putting more effort in to releasing these fish. Our release rate is currently 80% and I know of charter boats that are catching big numbers and have a less then 10% release rate. If we all work together on this, our fishery will continue get better and better still!

Huge thanks to Shimano Fishing New Zealand for some tough and reliable gear we use day in and day out to catch these fish, Bonze Lures for the quality lures we use, and Ocean’s Legacy New Zealand along with JC JIGS for the metal we have been supplied with and have proven are great jigs for catching these fish at night.
